Officers Andrew DiCarlo and Dustin Bray were named Officers of the Month for July. Officers of the Month are nominated by their fellow officers.
“On July 27, Officer DiCarlo, with the assistance of Officer Bray, initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation,” said Foster. “During the traffic stop it was notated that the passenger of the vehicle appeared to be incoherent. A consent to search the vehicle was requested by Officer Bray and granted. The search resulted in the location of a Schedule III narcotic, two Ziploc bags with a crystal-like substance, and several denominations of U.S. currency, both in the vehicle and on the passenger. During a consensual search of the passenger of the vehicle, six large unidentifiable pills were located on his person.”
The arrested subject was found to reside in the area where a drug activity complaint had been made.
The male arrestee was charged with:
- Possession of a controlled substance
- Possession, manufacture, sale of a controlled substance with intent to distribute
“The diligence and teamwork of both Vinton officers resulted in the apprehension of a presumed drug dealer and some very dangerous drugs,” said Foster in commending both Officers DiCarlo and Bray to Town Council.
