UScellular is excited to announce the addition of new stores to the greater Roanoke area, including a new location in Vinton at East Vinton Plaza. The business celebrated the occasion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 17 with the Vinton Area Chamber of Commerce.
Zack Whiteman, Director of Sales at the Vinton location (and Cave Spring), says the store has been open about a month. The Cave Spring store held their grand opening on July 19. The two existing stores at Valley View and in Salem held customer appreciation days on June 18.
The wireless carrier says that adding more locations will better serve customers and provide hands-on access to the newest devices, smart home solutions, and consumer electronics from popular national brands.
“We are excited to better serve the Roanoke community with additional locations and are inviting residents to come out to help us celebrate and have some food and fun,” says Nakeita Stewart, director of sales and operations for UScellular in the Mid-Atlantic. “We have some great gifts and the best devices and plans to help our customers stay connected wherever they are.”
Last year UScellular made a $22.5 million investment in its Virginia network including $13 million in 5G upgrades that bring customers faster data speeds, a more responsive mobile experience, and the ability to connect more devices to the network at the same time.
Additionally, the company invested $468,000 in its Virginia retail store environments in 2020 to create a better shopping experience and showcase the variety of smartphones, tablets, hotspots, and wireless tech accessories available for customers. This includes seven redesigned or updated stores across the state throughout the year.
UScellular is the fourth-largest full-service wireless carrier in the United States, providing national network coverage and industry-leading innovations designed to elevate the customer experience.
The Chicago-based carrier is building a stronger network with the latest 5G technology and offers a wide range of communication services that enhance consumers’ lives, increase the competitiveness of local businesses, and improve the efficiency of government operations.
Vinton Chamber president Justin Davison commented, “It was great to be out supporting another great business here #InvINton. They have a great and energized team that looks like they are ready to serve all your telecommunication needs, but also get out in the community and give back which is exciting. Welcome US Cellular team!”
On June 4, the UScellular in Vinton started that community involvement by welcoming students from the Boys and Girls Club of Southwest Virginia to help them learn more about Internet safety for children and adults during Internet Safety Month in June and how the Wireless Industry works.
Vinton Mayor Brad Grose, who attended the ribbon-cutting, said, “It’s always a pleasure to welcome new businesses to our area. Our local Chamber of Commerce is named the Vinton ‘Area’ Chamber of Commerce because it serves many businesses outside the Town of Vinton. The new UScellular store is a good example.”
“I’m sure you will do very well in this location,” Grose told the UScellular employees. “The store is very impressive; it looks great and there is a wonderful variety of devices on display. As Chamber members, all of us congratulate you on the new store and we are eager to help you.”
UScellular in Vinton is located at 1932 East Washington Avenue at East Vinton Plaza near Food Lion. Hours of operation are Monday-Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m.
Chamber Executive Director Angie Chewning said, “I see only great things to come from our new member UScellular. So exciting to grow this relationship. Welcome UScellular!”
