VINTON–The section of Walnut Avenue in the Town of Vinton and Wise Avenue in Roanoke City continues to be closed to all traffic while crews continue to work on completing repairs to a storm drain line in the 1000 block of Walnut Avenue.
The area affected is near the Southern States mill between the 8th Street rail crossing in Vinton, and Wise Avenue SE at Indian Village Lane SE in Roanoke.
The storm drain has been replaced and the necessary concrete work should be completed today (Friday, October 14). The open area will be filled and compacted and then the road will be re-paved and re-opened early next week.
Travelers who normally use this street are asked to adjust their route and commute time while this work is being done.
