The William Byrd track team traveled to EC Glass to start the 2017 outdoor season, competing in the Vince Bradford Relays in Lynchburg.
“The weather was near perfect, with a little wind blowing, but temperature was very nice,” said Byrd coach Eric Royal. “With this being a relay meet it allows for running athletes in different events with a baton.”
The Byrd girls finished ninth out of 14 teams, topped by a second place finish for the 4×1,600 team. Both the 4×200 and 4×400 teams both finished fifth and the 4×100 team was sixth
The boys were 14th, taking a fourth in the 4×1,600 event. Greyson Cornett was sixth in the 300 hurdles.
The Terriers will be back in action this Saturday at William Fleming High for the Colonel Classic, a large meet that will go for most of the day. Field events start at 9 am with running events at 10 am.
