Post-season honors for Blue Ridge District baseball, softball and soccer teams have been announced in the past week and William Byrd was well-represented.
In baseball, William Byrd’s Isaac Fix was named the “Pitcher of the Year” in the Blue Ridge District and was also a first team selection as a pitcher in Region 3D. Tyler Dean was first team on the mound in both the district and region while other All-Region selections included second teamers Luke Taylor at third base and Joey Johnson in the outfield.
Hayden Lyle, at designated hitter, and Dylan Hatfield, as an at-large selection, also received first team All-BRD honors. Second team went to Johnson in the outfield, Taylor at third and Dean was also chosen on the second team as a shortstop.
In softball Byrd’s Logan Pekela and Haleigh Vaughan were first team all-region, Logan at second base and Haleigh as an “at large” selection. Brooklyn Peters was named to the second team in the outfield.
Pekala, Vaughan and Peters were all named to the All-Blue Ridge District first team as well as Hallie Cox at pitcher. Sydney Blewitt is a second team all-BRD choice in the outfield.
Byrd had two first teamers on the All-Region 3D girls’ soccer team, goalie Sophia Chrisley and at large Maddie Simmons. Midfielder Anna Milliron and defender Maci Glass are second team all-region.
Christley, Simmons, Milliron and Glass are all first team all-district, as well as forward Hanna Chappell. Second teamers included midfielder Riley Firebaugh and defenders Madeleine Wolters-Argenio and Annie Stevens.
For boys’ soccer Landon Niday made first team All-Region 3D and All-Blue Ridge District. Nic Clements is a first team at large All-BRD choice and second team honors went to Braden Crossan at forward and Dylan Hughes as an at large.
