VINTON – Vinton Police reported they have charged two individuals with breaking and entering and grand larceny at Lynnhaven Baptist Church in May.
Charges have been placed against Rodney Allen Littrell, 34, from Bedford County, and Justin Corey Smith, 24, from Roanoke County.
Many of the items stolen from the church were recovered after the execution of a search warrant, the Police Department reported. Littrell has been arrested on his warrants and has been released on bond. Smith was arrested Friday afternoon.
Detective T. Bailey is the investigating officer.
The Police Department credited the public with helping with the investigation that led to the charges.
The department issued a media release right after the break-in was reported. That included video footage
of two individuals entering the church and taking various items.
“With the help of the public, these two suspects were identified and the subsequent investigation led to warrants being obtained in regard to this incident,” a news release from the Vinton Police said. “The partnership between the
community and law enforcement is invaluable and we applaud the work of our officers and Detectives, as well as the demonstration of civic responsibility from our citizens.”
