Michael “Grit” Lynn Smith, age 64, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 13, 2017, and awoke in the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ after fighting a valiant battle against cancer. A lifelong resident of Vinton, he resided at Clearview Manor in Vinton where he will be greatly missed by his many friends.
Michael (Mike) was preceded in death by his father, Robert “Smitty” Lee Smith, and his mother, Shirley Mae (Farris) Meadows, and step-father, Raymond Edward Meadows.
He is survived by his daughter, Misty Klein (Glenn), and his son, Adrian Smith (Mike), both of Roanoke; two brothers, Roger Lee Smith (Dennise) of Dozier, Ala. and James Curtis Smith (Cynthia) of Roanoke.
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17 in the Community Room at Clearview Manor Apartments, 1150 Vinyard Road, Vinton, with Pastor Tom Newell officiating.
