The Region 4A West track meet will be held at Liberty University today and William Byrd will be well-represented. The Terriers scored in 42 places in 19 events in the Conference 24 meet at Salem High last Saturday.
Byrd’s boys were third and the girls were fourth at the conference meet. The William Fleming boys and Salem girls were team winners and Pulaski County was the runnerup to both in the six school conference.
“It went pretty much how we expected it to go,” said Byrd coach Eric Royal.
Among the highlights for the Terriers was a first in the 4×800 relay for the Byrd boys. That foursome consisted of Ryan James, Cam Dalton, Ashton Ashley and Jayden Glass.
Westin Recktenwald took a first in the 3,200 with a time of 32.26. Ellasen Spangler, who also plays softball in the spring, won the girls’ shot put at 32’ 8”
“I was super impressed with our underclassmen, they stepped up,” said Royal. “Especially Greyson Cornett and Hunter Bohon. They had a very busy day.
