The Town of Vinton partners with several private providers for the recycling drop-off site at Lake Drive Plaza. The private partners have decided to discontinue the service and the recycling containers will be removed as of March 1.
For citizen disposal of recyclable materials there are several other services available:
- The Town of Vinton provides curbside collection of recyclables for town residents on a bi-weekly schedule. Information on recyclable items and the recycling schedule can be found in the Vinton calendar and on the town website at www.vintonva.gov.
- For Roanoke County residents, there is a drop-off location at William Byrd High School. Go to www.roanokecountyva.gov for other recycling drop-off locations.
- The Roanoke Valley Resource Authority has a permanent drop-off recycling center at the Tinker Creek Transfer Station at 1020 Hollins Road, NE, just off of Orange Avenue. This service is free to the residents of the Town of Vinton, the cities of Roanoke and Salem, and Roanoke County. Check out www.RVRA.net for details.
- RDS, a private company that accepts residential recyclable items is located at 835 Korte Street, SW, in Roanoke. Look to the website www.rds.virginia.com for directions.
