I am so proud of Skylour Stultz, who was nominated by members of the community for the 2024
FBI Citizens Academy. There were 100 applications and only 30 selected for the program which
was held at the Roanoke County Police Academy on Tuesdays from Feb. 6 to Feb. 27.
Each week different special agents came to speak about the role federal law enforcement has in
our community. The topics discussed were violent crime, cyber-crime, white collar crime, public
corruption, weapons of mass destruction, counterintelligence, and counterterrorism.
One session was held on a Saturday at the Roanoke County Police Department range. The
evidence response team, bomb technicians, and FBI SWAT made a presentation to the class. The
students were also given the opportunity to work with FBI instructors on gun safety and firearms
at the shooting range.
Through local case studies and hands on activities participants were able to learn what a vital
role federal law enforcement plays in our community. Skylour said, “Being allowed a glimpse
behind the mysterious curtain that the FBI is will be the greatest opportunity I was given.”
Skylour is the daughter of Chasity Barbour and Damon Stultz. This adopted mommy is so
proud of you! I know they are, too, LOL!
Our thoughts and prayers are with part of our extended family, Connie Dodd known as “Gaga”
to many. Mother to Tara (Steve) Jones, Rick (Debbie) Dodd and Ken Dodd, Connie is the
grandmother of Drake’s wife Hannah. She is also grandmother to Emilee Jones, Sarah Dodd, and
Josh Dodd and Jake Dodd (deceased) and great grandmother to Madison, Khloe, Brantley, and
Dallas.
Our hearts and prayers go out to the family of Jimmy Saunders. Jimmy is survived by his wife of
25 years, Anita Saunders. He is also survived by his children, Meredyth Carlisle (Todd) and
Madison Saunders (Gavin Clark), and grandchildren, Riley, Lucas, Reece and Sutton. Also
surviving are his mother-in-law, Shirley Hall, and brothers, Bobby Saunders (Wendy) and T.L.
Hall, nephews, River and Zane, a niece, Zoe (A.J.), his “ex-wifey” Nikki Keys, and “husband-in-
law” Skip Hollingsworth, as well as many other special family and friends.
