Jahue Irwin Mundy, 97, formerly of Huron, Ind., passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Salem Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salem.
Born April 25, 1921, in Huron, he was the son of Ellis and Ketha Mundy. He married June Elizabeth Hunter in 1941 and she preceded him in death.
Irwin retired from Grumman Aerospace Corporation. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving in the South Pacific. He was a member of First Nazarene Church of Roanoke. Irwin was a 1940 graduate of Huron High School
Survivors include his sons, Michael Dean Mundy of Indianapolis, Ind. and Ronnie E. Mundy of Vinton; grandsons, Jimmy Dean Mundy, David Michael Mundy, and Jay Marshall Mundy; and great-grandchildren Makenna Marie Mundy, Mason Michael Mundy, Dallas Mundy, Dee Mundy, Zaden Mundy, and Lex Mundy.
His wife, parents, and siblings, Renzo Mundy, Chester Mundy, David Mundy, and Melba Pierce, preceded him in death.
A graveside service was held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 22, in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.
