As 2017 gets underway, the Vinton Public Library has several classes scheduled for the week of January 8-14.
Classes for adults include:
- Yack and Yarn from 6-8 p.m. on January 9
- Bite Club at 7 p.m. on January 10
- As the Page Turns book club at 2 p.m. on January 11, discussing “What We Find” by Robyn Carr
- Master the Mouse technology class at 3 p.m. on January 11 with registration and $10 fee
- Device Power Hour on January 12 from 2-3 p.m.
Activities for children include:
- Winter Storytimes start up again for children on January 9, with Book Bugs for newborns to age 36 months on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10 a.m. and preschool story hour for ages 3-5 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 11 a.m.
- Pokemon Club for grades 2-6 on January 10 at 3:30 p.m.
- American Girl Book Club for ages 7-11 on January 11 at 3:30 p.m. “Meet Samantha”
And for teens:
- Magic: the Gathering Place on January 12 at 6 p.m.
The library is open from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sundays. Call 857-5043 for information or registration for programs.
The East County Café is now operating on the mezzanine level Monday-Thursday from 9-7, and Friday from 9 to 5 and receiving great reviews. The new coffee shop is operated by Roanoke County Parks and Recreation and will cater meetings and events at the library.
