Thanks to the community for making new school sign possible
In the spring of 2023, the W.E. Cundiff Elementary School PTA officially launched a
community-funded campaign to raise money toward the purchase of a new digital LED sign for
our school.
As many Vinton area residents noticed, the digital sign at WEC had not been working for some
time, so the PTA developed a plan to start raising money for the purchase of a new sign. After
obtaining quotes, the PTA team set a fundraising goal of $16,000. This was a LOT of money for
the PTA to raise. We started our campaign by sending letters to our community partners and
local businesses in May of 2023. Immediately, donations started coming in and continued as we
transitioned into the 2023-2024 school year.
The PTA also held multiple fundraisers throughout the 2023-2024 school year. We had great
success with each of our fundraisers and we continued to push on toward our goal. We were
humbled as checks came in from so many local business owners, citizens, and even parent
groups that came together in support of this project.
Last spring (2024), the WEC PTA was close to meeting our fundraising total, but we still needed
a little over $4,000 to reach our goal. During the summer break, we had an anonymous donor
reach out and generously cover the remaining balance.
We would like to thank this incredible community for helping us make this project possible! We
are forever grateful to every parent, local business, and/or private citizen that donated money for
our amazing digital sign. The new sign was purchased over the summer, installed in late fall, and
lit up for the very first time on December 4, 2024! We are so proud of this accomplishment for
our school and community.
