Each month the Lancerlot Sports Complex offers free health lectures to the public on a variety of topics. You do not need to be a member of the Lancerlot to attend. Everyone is welcome.
In September, there are three lecture topics: Posture, Fruits and Vegetables, and Taking Care of Future Healthcare Now.
On September 12, Balance Wellspace will be leading the discussion on Posture at 10 a.m. Good posture minimizes the excessive force that muscles and joints need to absorb.
Topics to be covered include the benefits of good posture, common posture mistakes, how posture affects overall health, exercises for improving posture, and more.
The Fruits and Vegetables lecture on September 20 at 9:45 a.m. is led by nutritionist Margarita Cubas, who will speak on the health benefits of eating more fruits and vegetables at each meal and for snacks. It is important to eat a variety of colors of fruits and vegetables each day as well. The goal is to make fruits and vegetables fill half of your plate.
Cubas will discuss the best fruit and best vegetable to eat in addition to the health benefits.
The “Plan Ahead and Take Control of Your Future Healthcare Now” lecture on September 27 at 10 a.m. focuses on Advance Directives (Power of Attorney, Do Not Resuscitate Order, Donor Registry Enrollment Forms), Living Wills, and Medical Power Of Attorney, with an open discussion to follow on any topic.
This lecture will be very beneficial to learn how to “get things in order if something happens.” Frequent lecturer Monica McAllister will lead this session.
All lectures are held on the third floor of the Lancerlot, which is accessible by elevator.
