The William Byrd girls’ soccer team returned from spring break Tuesday with a game at undefeated Lord Botetourt. The girls battled the Cavaliers all over the field but came up on the short end of a 5-0 score.
Byrd trailed just 1-0 at the half and had several opportunities. Botetourt took control in the second half but the Byrd girls didn’t quit.
“The score was not a good reflection of the competitiveness of the game,” said coach Molly Deacon.
“ We several scoring opportunities in the second half but could not capitalize. Botetourt continued to bring the pressure, taking advantage of our change in formation as we tried to add more offense.”
The Terriers were scheduled to host Fort Defiance on Wednesday. Christiansburg is here Friday for a jayvee-varsity doubleheader at Patterson Stadium.
