Star City Playhouse has scheduled its first production in Vinton for the weekend of February 10-12. Performances of “Shakespeare in Love” will be Friday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. and February 11 and 12 at 2 p.m.
Auditions for the production continue this weekend on January 21 from 1 to 4 p.m. and on January 22 from 2 to 5 p.m.
The “official” season opens on March 24 with performances again on Fridays at 7 and Saturdays and Sunday at 2 p.m. every other month.
Productions include “The Second Man” by S.N. Behrman, “Bus Stop” by William Inge, “Enemy of the People” by Henrik Ibsen, “The Nerd” by Larry Shue, and “Mid-Summer” by Vina Delmar.
General admission tickets are $10; $8 for seniors and students. Due to limited seating, reservations must be made by calling 366-1446, which is also the general information number.
Owners Karon and Marlon Ferguson say they will be putting up walls and adding an extra fire door to the theater. They will be asking for donations on Indie GoGo and are also in need of volunteers to help on Saturdays and Sundays.
Parking for performances is available behind the theater, including the Farmers’ Market spaces with a walkway to the left of the back door which leads to the front so patrons won’t have to walk around the block.
