The Visitors Center at Explore Park re-opened for the season on April 14 and plans to remain open on a year-round basis.
To celebrate that plan and all the new and continuing activities the public can expect in the months ahead, Explore Park held a free event on April 15 with “Adventure Sunday,” showcasing a wide variety of new amenities.
Don and Melody Harrison of Vinton set up one of their Don’s Cab-Inns, which will be available at the campground for rental around the first of October. Horses and riders from Reba Farms paraded through the area and talked about their Explore Park programs.
Adventure Sunday included guided and interpretive hikes, informative talks, composting worms, bugs, a balloon artist with children using bikes to power her air pump, a climbing wall, and music by the Falling Creek Bluegrass Bank, along with concessions by Wake & Bacon Food Truck, the Fresh Baked Pop Up Bakery and Kettle Corn.
Explore Park is located at Milepost 115 off the Blue Ridge Parkway.
