Roanoke County Director of Elections and General Registrar Anna Cloeter has confirmed that the ballot for Vinton Town Council will include three names for the May 5, 2020 election.
Mayor Brad Grose is seeking to retain his seat. He is running unopposed. He has served on council since 2000 and was elected to the position of mayor in 2004.
Two of the four seats on town council need to be filled in the May election—those of Keith Liles and Janet Scheid. Scheid announced in January that she would not be running for re-election.
Liles is running to keep his seat on council where he currently serves as vice mayor. He was first elected in 2016.
Laurie Mullins announced on February 25 that she is running for a seat on council as well.
Candidates were required to file their requisite paperwork by 7 p.m. on March 3. Grose, Liles, and Mullins completed the requirements and obtained 125 verified signatures of voters registered and residing in the Town of Vinton.
The terms of council members Mike Stovall and Sabrina McCarty continue through June 30, 2022.
