The William Byrd girls remained unbeaten on the young season with a 2-0 win at Cave Spring in their last game before spring break. The girls are 2-0-1.
The Terriers broke a scoreless tie with 14 minutes to go until halftime. Maddy Simmons crashed the goal after a shot, putting pressure on the keeper and then was able to connect with Addi St. Clair for the goal. Two minutes later Byrd got the last goal of the night when Anna Martin assisted Simmons to give the Terriers a 2-0 lead going into the half.
The second half was scoreless as Byrd’s defense put up a solid wall in front of keep Sophia Chrisley, who recorded the shutout in goal.
The Terriers will be back in action next week with two home games. They host Staunton River on Tuesday and Cave Spring a week from today.
