The William Byrd track team was the host for the “Terrier Team Challenge” on the oval at Robert A. Patterson Stadium in Vinton last Saturday. The competition was terrific as teams from all over the valley participated in the meet.
Byrd had some solid performances. On the men’s side Wyatte Bailey finished sixth in the 400m dash with a time of 55.06 while Walker Nance took seventh in both the 110m hurdles (16.74) and 300m hurdles (45.33). Jordan Johnson finished 7th in the long jump with a jump of 19’7”.
Nathan Williamson took fifth in the discus with a throw of 111’01”, and in the shot put Hunter Richards was fifth with a throw of 41’7.5”.
On women’s side Chloe Harrilla jumped 15’10” to take second in the long jump while Mya Rosser was second in the discus with a toss of 99’ 3”. Sarah Fuchs was sixth in the discus at 90’3”.
Sydney Blewett took a second in the shot put at 34’1” and teammates and sisters Mya Rosser was fifth and Jaylen Rosser was sixth.
The girls 4x100m relay of Harrilla, Fuchs, Emma Dalton and Remi Figart finished third with a time of 53.05 and second in the Sprint Medley with a time a of 2:01.67. Olivia Hurd finished fourth in the 800m run with a time of 2:33.29.
Emma Matthews finished ninth in the 200m dash with a time of 28.78. Emma Kageals took eighth in the 100m hurdles in 18.89 and fifth in the 300m hurdles with a time of 52.80. In the girls high jump Figart and Harrilla tied with a jump of 4’6.
The Terriers will be back in action this Saturday at Staunton River High for the Golden Eagle Invitational.
