William Byrd junior Colin Murtaugh was recognized by the Roanoke County School board for his swimming accomplishments as a sophomore. Colin was the Class 3 state champion while competing in the 50 Free Style and 100 Butterfly. Here Colin is congratulated by school board member Tim Greenway, and Byrd athletic director and assistant principal Marcee Cook were also in attendance. “Colin is “humble, kind, and a leader by example,” said Byrd swim coach Krista Martin. “We are lucky to have him on the team. He is so mature at such a young age. We are proud of Colin and his accomplishments and the type of student athlete he is.”
