The William Byrd Middle School football team traveled across the valley to Glenvar for an intra-county rival game with the Highlanders last week. Byrd had a big night, dominating the Highlanders in a 42-6 win.
The victory gave the middle Terriers a winning season with a 4-3 record. Andrew Mitchell coaches the middle school team and he’s excited about the group he’s sending to the high school next year as well as the seventh graders who will return.
“I am incredibly proud of this team,” said Mitchell. “They came out to practice each and every day with the goal of getting better. At the end of the day, that is all a coach can ask for.
“I’m really excited to see this 8th grade group continue in this game up at the high school, and eager to get back to work with the 7th graders that we have coming back next year.”
