Two students from William Byrd High School attended the Republican Convention on Saturday, May 19 at James Madison University.
Ana Kate Boush is the president of the Elephant Club at William Byrd and Haley Cook is the vice president. The two of them along with the sponsor Ruth Overfelt were delegates at the convention.
Ana said, “The process was very informative and empowering as a citizen. It was a pleasure to serve as a delegate.”
Haley Cook commented, “It was a fun day. It was very educational. I enjoyed being able to vote for the first time.”
Saturday’s Convention was to choose a candidate that would run for Congress. The ladies’ choice was Ben Cline and majority followed suit as he was elected to be the Republican nominee.
It was an awesome experience and one to be remembered.
