The William Byrd tennis teams took on Lord Botetourt with mixed results last Friday. The girls won a 6-3 decision at Hollins University but the boys lost, 9-0, at home.

The girls remained undefeated in Blue Ridge District play. Singles winners were Hannah Shelton at two, Allison Faulkner at three, Julie Kelly at five and Maddie Glover at six, while Kaidyn Settles lost a heartbreaker at one in a tie-breaker.

In double Settles and Shelton won at number one and Olivia Ashworth teamed up with Glover for a win at number three. The girls are now 6-4 overall.

The boys are 3-7 overall but their loss to LB was their first district loss in three BRD matches. The boys are scheduled to host Patrick Henry in a non-district match today while the girls are at PH. Both teams got rained out of matches against Northside on Tuesday. Those matches will be made up Friday with the girls at home and the boys at Walrond Park.
