The Vinton Area Chamber of Commerce (VACC) is sponsoring its Senior Expo 2018 on Tuesday, March 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Vinton War Memorial. This is an annual event that traditionally draws hundreds of seniors, caregivers, businesses serving the interests of the aging, and baby boomers who are becoming seniors.
There is no charge for admission to the event, which is open to the public, with abundant free parking available.
The VACC invites the community to come early to gather goodies from the vendors who have set up exhibits which encompass retirement, assisted living, nursing care, health care, home care, hospice, health products, aging in place, medical equipment, insurance, reverse mortgages, hearing and eye care, and health screenings.
In addition to goody bags, there are door prizes, vendor giveaways, screenings and more.
Entertainment and demonstrations include an exercise demonstration presented by the Lancerlot Sports Complex at 10:30 a.m., a Tai Chi demonstration led by Steve Garay and the Vinton Seniors at 11 a.m., a line dance demonstration led by Shelly McCallum and “Steppin’ In Time” at 11:30, the Our Lady of the Valley Bell Choir at noon, vocalist Keith Campbell (the Bedford Crooner) at 10 and 12:30, and the Vinton Express Band from 1 until 2 p.m.
Chef Drew Buzik from Star City Succotash Fine Foods and Catering will be preparing concessions.
Sponsors of the Senior Expo this year, in addition to the VACC, include the Senior News magazine, Pinnacle Bank, GCR Tire Centers, The Vinton Messenger, Magnets USA, Cox Business, the Vinton War Memorial, Roanoke County, Lotz Funeral Home, BB&T, Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton Roofing Company, the Vinton War Memorial, Winter’s Storage, Vertex Signs, First Team Auto, Boxtree Lodge/Braeloch, Twin Creeks Brewing Company, PFG, Grand Rental Station, and Carilion Clinic.
