The Vinton Area Swim Team scored 257 points in their final RVAA Monday Night meet of the season this week. Vinton swam against Hidden Valley and host Forest Hills in South County.
Top Scorers for the night included Glenn Buyalos (41), who swam first gold in the 50 fly and second gold in the 50 back, scoring 29 points. Austin Nielsen (13) swam second gold in both the 50 fly and the 50 back, scoring 28 points, while Madelynn Sprouse (14) swam third gold in the 50 fly and first gold in the 50 back, scoring 28 points. Also, Hannah Grove (15) swam first silver in the 50 fly and first gold in the 50 back, scoring 25 points, and Hannah Scott (15) swam first gold in the 50 fly and first silver in the 50 back, scoring 25 points.
Taly Kwaramba (8) scored 23 points for the team, finishing second gold in the 25 fly and first silver in the 25 back. Coach Ben Nielsen (37) scored 18 points, finishing second silver in both the 50 fly and the 50 back. Callie Shuler (8) scored 19 points finishing first bronze in the 25 fly and second gold in the 25 back.
Delaney Allmon (10) scored 9 points, finishing fifth bronze in the 50 fly and third silver in the 50 backstroke. Ella Shuler (10) swam a legal time in the 50 fly, dropping -5.06 seconds and finished second bronze in the 50 backstroke, scoring 4 points. Gretchen Moomey (12) finished second bronze in the 50 fly and fourth silver in the 50 back, scoring 11 points. Brianna Roberson (11) finished fourth bronze in the 50 fly and fifth bronze in the 50 back, scoring 3 points. Daisy Allmon (13) finished first bronze in the 50 back and the 50 fly, scoring 10 points. Amanda Buyalos (36) also finished first bronze in the 50 back and the 50 fly, scoring 10 points. Aiden Beasley (7) finished second bronze in the 25 fly.
Savannah Bailey (10) swam a legal time in both the 50 fly and the 50 back. Savannah dropped -5.20 seconds from her 50 fly, making her the most improved swimmer for the night. Kinley McGee (7) dropped 4.85 seconds in the 25 fly and swam a legal time in the 25 backstroke. Analise Buyalos (7) also swam a legal time in the 25 backstroke, dropping 1.97 seconds.
The Dolphins will now train with an eye on the season-ending City-County meet at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center on July 28 and 29.
