PASTOR HAY BEGINS AT LYNN HAVEN
The Rev. Jason Hay, 39, has begun his ministry at Lynn Haven Baptist Church, which serves the Vinton and Southeast Roanoke areas. He has come from an 11-year stay at Mecklenburg Baptist Church in Boydton. Hay grew up as a Baptist in Richmond and obtained both his undergraduate and theological education at Liberty University in Lynchburg. There he met his wife, the former Tiffany Henry of Mill Creek, Pa. The Hay family includes Landen, 10, and Lauren, 4, now enrolled at the church’s pre-school. Lynn Haven, a congregation dating from the 1950s, was most recently served by the Rev. Michael Wrye.
ELDER LAW SPECIALIST OFFERS FREE ADVICE
Ann McGee Green, a Roanoke attorney practicing elder law, will speak on “Issues and Options in Long-Term Care” Monday, Jan. 23, at 6 p.m. at College Lutheran Church in Salem. The program is sponsored by Salem Area Ecumenical Ministries (SAEM) and is free to the public. The church at 210 S. College Avenue is handicap accessible through its rear entrance. Green will discuss financing care for elderly relatives through government programs and private insurance.
