The annual Clean Valley Day in the Roanoke Valley is scheduled for Saturday, April 1 from 9 to noon.
The Clean Valley Council welcomes individuals and groups to volunteer for the annual spring cleanup. This year marks the 39th year of cleaning up the valley.
In 2013, 72 teams with 1,428 volunteers collected many tons of trash. Volunteers came from the Cities of Roanoke and Salem, the Town of Vinton and the Counties of Roanoke and Botetourt.
This valley-wide clean up promotes respect and care for the beautiful community. It is a great fun, team-building opportunity for corporations, civic organizations, youth and church groups.
Individuals are invited to “Pick your spot – a park, playground, roadside, stream bank or your very own neighborhood and help get rid of the litter and make it a cleaner, healthier place for all.”
Vinton Town Council will award prizes to the top three* citizens or teams who pick up the most trash in the town’s rights-of-way, public properties or pre-approved vacant lots. (* based on submitted data reports)
- 1st Place: $150
- 2nd Place: $100
- 3rd Place: $50
All volunteers are provided with trash bags and gloves.
